Wedding Tips

Every Indian girl has dreams of her marriage, a significant occasion in her life when she will be the in the spotlight as the epitome of beauty and grace. The resplendent bridal attire, glittering gold jewelry and gorgeous bridal make-up only enhance the regal effect.
Every bride-to-be needs to understand the difference between daily make-up and special bridal make-up that will enhance her beauty on this big occasion.

Before your special day

Your preparations for the big day should start well in advance. Here are some things you can do before your special day:

1 Chalk out a program for your nail, hair and skin at least 6 weeks before the wedding. This should include manicures and pedicures.
2 Avoid going out in the sun. Protect your skin by using a good quality sun block which has at least 20 SPF in it
3 If you are a working woman whose job can get stressful, make it a point to indulge in a soothing massage or spa treatment. Attending at least one aromatherapy session before the wedding is a good idea.
4 Try to get as much sleep as possible. This will effectively remove any dark circles under your eyes. Smile more often, be happy and let that happiness reflect on your face.
5 Scout for good professional make up artists at least 2-3 months before the wedding. Book them well in advance. Show them your wedding outfit so that they can make plans for the final look. Have a trial session before the D-Day to see if the look works for you.

Make up Tips

When the big day arrives, keep these tips in mind while applying make up:
1 Your make up should coordinate with your bridal jewelry and outfit. If you are using heavy attire and jewelry, you should go for light make-up
2 If your wedding is scheduled for the evening, heavy make-up may be a good idea. However, keep in mind that heavy make-up does not look good in bright daylight. So, choose accordingly.
3 The season of your wedding also has an impact on the type of make-up that you should opt for. Light, pastel shades work well for spring/summer whereas warm, dark tones are more suited for winter conditions
4 Remember that you should not look artificial. Bridal make-up needs to be dramatic and heavier without compromising on the natural elegance of the bride.
5 Weddings are occasions where you will be photographed a lot. Yellow toned foundations will make you look your best under camera flashlights.
6 Use a lip liner that is the exact shade of your long lasting lipstick or else, it will look out of place on your lips.
7 Balancing the lip make-up and eye make-up is an essential part of the bridal make-up. If you want your eyes to appear dramatic, use a light colored lip shade. If you want to have a natural effect on the eyes, go for a dark lipstick.
8 Remember to apply foundation on all exposed parts of your body. This way, your face will not look artificially made up.
Use some translucent powder for a light dusting to take off any extra shine on your face

Bridal Hairstyle Tips

There was a time when hair make up did not matter much because your face was covered by a ghoonghat (a traditional veil). However, the times have changed now and the modern bride displays her confidence by showing her gorgeous hairstyle.

The first thing to do is to search for a well-known hair stylist. Set up an appointment and let your hair be examined to determine what style will work best for you. You can show your hair stylist your attire to help you decide which hair style would go well with it. Keep a few things in mind such as location of the wedding (whether indoor or outdoor), if it is going to be traditional or modern etc while deciding your hairstyle.

Bridal hairstyle should enhance the best features of the bride. To add more volume to a long and narrow face, you can choose soft perms and curls. A high French Bun is a good idea for short brides.

You can make use of styling accessories like stone studded flowers, pins etc that help your hair look outstanding.

Do not cut your hair too short before the wedding as it may not grow back quickly. If you are going to set a veil, choose a sturdy hairstyle that is going to support your veil. Shampooing and conditioning your hair on the big day will only make it soft and it would not be able to stay up while styling. So, avoid doing this.

Lastly, remember that the best make up tip is to wear a smile, exuding confidence and attitude.

Good luck with your wedding!
